5. From the Archives: History of 'The Isca Lodge No 685' {Freemasons} by W.J.Townsend-Collins & H.B. Norton-North pp18-19
This is the tale of one of its members, Dr. William Williams Morgan, who in his 'nineties' related how he risked his life giving succour to a dying Chartist at Newport, on Monday Nov 4th 1839.
Isca Lodge No.683 was constituted under the authority of the United Grand Lodge of England.- a Lodge in the Masonic Province of Monmouthshire, meeting at Newport Masonic Hall , Lower Dock Street.
6. From the Archives: Edward Hamer: The Chartist Outbreak at Llanidloes (1839)
Edward Hamer was born about 1830 in Llanidloes. He became teacher at Snatchwood, then Talywaun and finally Abersychan in Monmouthshire.
During these years, he researched the Llanidloes Rising of April 1839 and he published The Chartist Outbreak at Llanidloes (1867.)
At this years Chartist Convention, on 02 November, Nick Venti and Nia Griffiths will give a talk entitled "The Chartist Riots in Llanidloes in 1839" so this is a useful source for this little known event

FAREWELL TO OUR DEAR FRIEND CHRIS WILLIAMS
We were deeply saddened when Chris died in April of this year. Chris who is pictured above with another of our good friends who left us too soon, Malcolm Chase, would have been a keynote speaker at this year's Annual Chartist Convention. Elin Jones will pay tribute to him on 02 November and we will publish this in a future edition of the eMagazine.
